The following information is provided by NEMA Standard No. 250 Appendix A as a guide to comparing NEMA enclosure typesto IEC Designations. IEC Publication 60529 Classification of Degrees of Protection Provided by Enclosures provides a system for specifying the enclosures of electrical equipment on the basis of the degree of protection provided by the enclosure. IEC 60529 does not specify degrees of protection against mechanical damage of equipment, risk of explosions, or conditions such asmoisture (produced forexample by condensation), corrosive vapors, fungus, or vermin (those creatureslooking for a new home or tosharpen their teeth). NEMA Standards Publication 250 does test for environmental conditions such ascorrosion, rust, icing, oil, and coolants. For this reason, and because thetests and evaluations forother characteristics are not identical, the IEC Enclosure Classification Designations cannot be exactlyequated with NEMA Enclosure Type Numbers. The following table provides a guide for converting from NEMA Enclosure Type Numbers to IEC Enclosure Classification Designations. The NEMA Types meet or exceed the test requirements for the associated IEC Classifications; forthis reason the table should not be used to convert from IEC classifications to NEMA Types and the NEMA to IEC conversion should be verified by test.
The balance of the hangers are aligned with the other flange openings and pushed in. When all hangers are in the box flange, the trim islifted up slightly to clear the notch on the bottom hanger, and the trim inself-supported on the X-PB1 and Q-PB1 box. The installation is Completed by swinging the trim to the closedposition, then lifting and pushing slightly to the right. The trim will dropinto place totally secured. The multipoint catches on the left side of the trimwill lock into the left side box flange openings. To prevent the trim frombeing removed by non-authorized persons,a unique sliding means automatically latches in place when the trim door isclosed. Along with a new lock, the X-PB1 and Q-PB1 trim offers a high degree of door security.
